GENERAL MEDICINE / CANCER INSTITUTES COLLABORATIVE ACCESS TEAM
(GM/CA CAT)
AT THE ADVANCED PHOTON SOURCE,
ARGONNE NATIONAL LABORATORY Beamline Controls Scientist, Controls Group Leader (since 2006) Lead a group of four scientists and software developers to design beamline controls and data acquisition system for three macromolecular crystallography beamlines at the Advanced Photon Source (APS). Continue developing and expanding the X-ray Server for internet-based analysis of X-ray Bragg diffraction, reflectivity and scattering data and the studies of X-ray magnetic scattering. |

| 1997-2002 |
BIOPHYSICAL COLLABORATIVE ACCESS TEAM
(BioCAT)
AT THE ADVANCED PHOTON SOURCE,
ILLINOIS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY Research Associate Professor of Physics (IIT), Beamline Scientist (BioCAT) Participated in the construction and operation of undulator-based BioCAT beamline at the Advanced Photon Source. Designed EPICS-based beamline controls including programming tools for data acquisition and automatic beamline setup and alignment. Supported XAFS and SAXS experiments at the beamline carried by various research groups. Provided administration of BioCAT computers and designed the BioCAT Web site. Studied X-ray reflectivity by magnetic multilayers under the condition of resonant magnetic scattering. Developed the X-ray Server for internet-based calculations in the fields of X-ray Bragg diffraction, reflectivity and scattering. |
Chicago, USA |
| 1993-1997 |
INSTITUTE OF PHYSICS, HUMBOLDT UNIVERSITY OF BERLIN
(HU/Physik/Roentgenbeugung) Guest Researcher Developed theories and computer programs for the analysis of thin surface structures (multilayers, quantum wires, quantum dot arrays, etc.) with the techniques of grazing incidence X-ray diffraction and scattering. Applied those developments to studies of A3B5 superlattices and quantum wires. Designed and performed synchrotron X-ray radiation experiments at DESY and ESRF. Supervised postgraduate students. |
Berlin, GERMANY |
| 1987-1997 |
INSTITUTE FOR NUCLEAR PROBLEMS (INP),
BELARUSSIAN STATE UNIVERSITY Senior Research Associate Theoretically studied parametric X-ray radiation by relativistic electrons in crystals under conditions of multiple Bragg diffraction and explained 3- and 8-wave parametric X-ray experiments. Developed a new approach to multiple Bragg diffraction of X-rays. Provided detailed theoretical and experimental analysis of X-ray surface back diffraction. Participated in X-ray studies of optical crystals for lasers and scintillators. Gave lectures on X-ray diffraction to graduate students and supervised MS diploma students. |
Minsk, BELARUS |
| 1981-1986 |
INSTITUTE OF CRYSTALLOGRAPHY (IKAN),
USSR ACADEMY OF SCIENCES Research Fellow Studied grazing incidence X-ray diffraction (GID) from imperfect crystals. Developed new techniques for investigation of semiconductor materials with GID. Suggested and theoretically justified the Bragg-Laue diffraction geometry for surface-sensitive X-ray material science. Defended the Ph.D. thesis. |
